Be mindful of how you end a phone call, cold callers are people too!
I know that a cold call isn’t always the best thing in the world, you might be busy, or you really just don’t want to listen to a canned and scripted message, but there is a way to end a phone call without abruptly hanging up the phone. As someone who has made thousands of cold calls, and also received cold calls, I can understand the want to hang up, but a simple “sorry, I’m not interested, thank you for calling” will suffice. Recruiters and cold callers are people too, don’t forget that! It’s a simple act that shows that you’re professional and caring. You never know, someday down the line you could want to work for this company and they go into their applicant tracking system and see that you hung up on them last time will not leave a great taste in the recruiter’s mouth.
