Full Time Licensed Nurse (Overnight)

Schedule: Overnight Shift - 11pm - 7am Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Hours: 40 hours Responsibilities: Participate in and assist supervisor in the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Center. Write progress notes, enter orders, identify advanced directives, and print necessary paperwork for appointments utilizing Sigmacare. Complete admission orders, nursing history, and assessments and set schedules for Coumadin and sliding scale insulin. Modify C.N.A. assignments and pull off appropriate reports. Retrieve messages and reset passwords in Sigmacare. Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care. Ensure that all nursing service personnel are following their respective job description. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluation, studies, charting, etc., as necessary. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department and facility. Meet with shift staff on a regularly scheduled basis to assist in identifying and correcting problems areas, and/or the involvement of services. Make periodic rounds of the unit to assess resident needs. Participate in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident as necessary. Review resident care plans for appropriate resident goals, problems, approaches, and revisions based on nursing needs. Ensure that all personnel involved in providing care to the resident are aware of the care plan and that care plans are used in administering daily care to the resident. Write nursing progress notes to support the care plan. Ability to monitor medication oversight & treatment schedules to assure that medications are being taken as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled. Assist in finding coverage for sick calls on your shift. Report potential problems to the Director of Nursing Services and assist in developing and implementing corrective action. Keep the Nursing Supervisor informed of the status of residents and other related matters through written/oral reports. Meet with residents, and/or family members, as necessary. Report problem areas to the Nursing Supervisor. Consult with the resident's physician in planning resident care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., as necessary. Work with the facility's consultants and implement those changes authorized by the Nursing Supervisor. Make independent decisions concerning nursing care. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take TPR, blood pressures, etc., as necessary. Participate in completing treatments and administering medications as per physician order. Respond to emergency calls to Residential apartments when assigned. Assist with QAPI process as assigned. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Hold current nursing license in Commonwealth of Massachusetts (LPN or RN). Experience working in a nursing setting with the elderly preferred. Attention to detail and the ability to provide compassionate care required. Must be able to show compassion, understanding, and patience when dealing with residents.
