How to get an Indiana Pharmacy Technician License

Below you will find a summary of how to apply for and receive a license to practice pharmacy in the state of Indiana.

Designations:

License:Requires either the PTCB or the ExCPT

Technician in Training:Does not require previous licensing.

Requirements:

Both designations require all of the below points, however the Pharmacy Technician License also requires previously receiving either your CphT from the PTCB or the ExCPT from the NHA.

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED

  • Clear background: You have never been convicted of a crime related to drugs or controlled substances that would inhibit your ability to work with said substances.

  • Ability to have a criminal background check conducted

Application fees:

The fee for an Indiana state Pharmacy Technician license is $25. You must pay with either a check or a money order, which can be made out to “Professional Licensing Agency.”

The Process

Once you have gathered your High School Diploma/GED, and the application fee, fill out the Pharmacy Technician License application which can be found here. At the bottom of the first page, there are a list of 6 yes or no questions, if you answer yes to any of those questions you must provide the below documentation, which can also be found on the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency Website:

Once all of the documents are collected, the form is filled out, and you have signed your check, you can send everything to the Professional Licensing Agency at 402 W Washington Street, Room W072 Indianapolis, IN 46204.
